Our Story

Char & Whiskers is a pet brand created to enhance the lives of pet parents through art. Turn your pet photo into custom art for your home or shop pet products designed in-house with you in mind.

My name is Jie and I’m the artist behind Char & Whiskers. I’ve been drawn to creative passions since I was young, taking classes, creating murals, and working in product development for some time. But, there was always something missing. I wanted to create for people to feel something.

It all started when my friend Mo requested a single-line pet portrait of her dog Pippin. My only tools at the time were a barely-functioning iPad and a $5 stylus. After seeing the joy a custom portrait of her dog gave her, I naturally continued to create more custom portraits of my friends’ dogs.

Char & Whiskers is special in the fact that it began with no investment and grew through the support of pet parents who are absolutely obsessed with their pets. I love hearing your stories about your pets and their quirks. It truly makes my work meaningful because I create art for those with so much love to give.

As an artist, Char & Whiskers has given me so much fulfillment. You’ll often hear me say that my customers are the best people. After meeting so many of you online and in person, I stand my ground on that. Thank you for supporting my art and I’m excited to grow this community.

Premium Paper

Our custom pet portraits are printed on premium 111lb cardstock that is archival, PH balanced, and fade resistant. 

Our paper supplier was chosen based on their commitment to environmentally responsible methods in paper production, preserving and honoring surrounding woodlands and using spring water that flows right through their private mill, reducing water consumption by 70%. 

We use the same paper as the Cannes Film Festival and Hollywood’s Academy Awards ceremony. Because we believe pet parents deserve the best.
